Lingering high clouds but a whole lot of blue.

TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 2/8: The trough dropping in on us from the north has not moved as much as expected and we will continue to see some light high clouds. This is about it for variables in an otherwise clear and stable pattern. We saw a faster rebound in temperatures than expected in Crested Butte while Gunnison stayed cold so expect a tighter line in the inversion and have layers.

Temperatures: Lows were milder than expected with CB holding to -3 while Gunni dropped to -11. Highs will look a lot like yesterday with CB reaching the mid 20’s while Gunni holds to 12. Look for lows tonight to stay closer to -10.

Outlook: Temperatures and the inversion are the only variable in the pattern for the better part of this week. Expect big temperature swings in CB while Gunni stays colder during the days but inches up through the week. February’s higher sun angle allows for a faster rebound but have layers for an early start.

Synopsis
The high pressure ridge over the West Coast will continue to dominate our weather through the work week. As the ridge slowly shifts east this week, we can expect a gradual warming trend in the mountains over valley inversions, and wind speeds easing. There is a weak disturbance in the forecast for next weekend, but it won’t be enough to feed our powder appetites that will surely be growing all week.
