Potential for some stronger storms.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 7/24: The more concentrated moisture we were expecting for yesterday was a little muted for our area but the storms that built off the combined moisture and heat to the west are dominating this morning. Regional radar is already showing strong pockets moving in our direction and precipitable water levels are pushing 1.4 inches which is well above normal. Expect slower moving thunder cells with heavy cloud cover through the day and likely continuing overnight.
Temperatures: Overnight lows were warm with the cloud cover holding to 50 for Crested Butte and 55 for Gunnison. Highs will be on the cooler side with the clouds but will climb quickly to the mid to high 70’s with the warm start. Look for lows tonight to look about the same with rain possible.
Outlook: We will switch to a drier western flow through tonight but this will first push all the moisture to our west through overnight. Friday will have plenty of residual moisture to burn off with thundershowers through the afternoon while the weekend will bring a mix of sun and possible convective afternoon storms. Plan to get out early or be prepared.
