Subtropical plume on the move.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 8/1: The battle between the drier northern trough and the wetter southwestern flow is over and moisture is streaming north into southern UT and western CO. We are seeing mostly sunny skies early but look for high clouds filling in through the early afternoon serving up slow moving cells through the afternoon. These will be hit or miss to start but will have the potential for slow moving heavy rainers with a hit so be prepared.
Temperatures: Lows were milder with the clouds with Crested Butte reporting 41 and 50 for Gunnison. Highs will rebound early with the sun but be moderated through the afternoon by the clouds with CB holding to 70 and 75 for Gunni. Look for lows tonight in the high 40’s and 50’s with cloud cover.
Outlook: The southern plume that was stalled over the 4 Corners has now pushed north seeding the west with plenty of moisture to fuel thundershowers through the weekend and into Monday. Precipitable water levels are at 1 inch which generally leads to slower moving heavy rain cells through the afternoons so get out early and be prepared.
