UPDATED RESULTS IN!! So I was talking to my buddy Flavio this weekend about MY disappointment in missing the podium. He was giving me some pointers on winning and suggested that sometimes when you go soft, you need to cheat. I suspect the Stewards at FCHQ may reverse this Jenson Button moment I'm having, but be sure to check OUT the graphs too, they look great! Bahrain is over 3 months away; I hope I don't get in dutch with the Officials here 'cause I'm looking forward to it. Too fun!
Jimbo, player imcculley was shooting for the stars with F1 picks before he entangling himself with a babe. After that we didn't see much (online) action from mr. mcculley. And you are correct, matbarlow is at the pointy end. Mat is our nephew (technically Sue's sisters son) and he's the one who got us involved in this silly sport.
Touché docsue and congratulations to ALL the podium finishers! I WAS fairly beaten and indeed I will have to harden up and get my picks in before the Friday night onslaught. I agree, F1 is the pinnacle of performance where there is no room for whining. (Well, unless your Nelson or Kimi.) The truth is, I got my first "cable" TV (FIOS) the beginning of this year. So, I too am a F1 newbie. Graham, your reference to the "mid-season romantic relationships" is tantalizing. Perhaps an even better excuse for forgetting to pick. Is Mat Barlow at the top of the pointy end or am I off on my interpretation? Mat is related? Do we have a nepotistic podium?
When should I expect my prize package?
Hats off to docsue, loving wife and mrs. flyingcracker, for a tremendous virgin formula one season. What a fun suspenseful finish! I have the feeling that if a few fantasy players didn't get involved in romantic relationships mid-season then we'd have even more competition at the pointy end. Great guessing matbarlow, I'm glad the podium is a family affair!
Yes, Jimbo your whining may be justified but remember, you are a pro when it comes to F1. You were fairly beaten by a disciplined (max 2 cocktails/night) novice in her virgin Formula One season, so htfu! And Cheers!
Random thoughts regarding the last race of the F1 season: 1. Abu Dhabi? Yabba-dabba-doo! (Except for the non-alcoholic bubbly), 2. Vettel showed his mettle (again), 3. Kobayashi scores points! (To celebrate, I'm have a hot dog for lunch) and 4. My crystal ball let me down for this race big time. I'll have a new one for next year. Looking forward to the upcoming F1 Season and participating full time in 2010. This was fun...
This is the Fantasy Page, eh? Well, my fantasy is that as Vettel goes to pass Hamilton, they tango off into the sand. Then Button blazes by Barrichello and Webber for a Button, Webber, Barrichello finish putting ME firmly into a 3rd place position on the Fantasy podium! And now for some Fantasy Wining. I averaged 10.5 points per race for the ones I picked. If I got 10.5 points for Spain and Europe (the ones I forgot), I would have 168 points putting docsue in MY mirror. It's been a hard fought battle and a LOT of fun! Thank you Graham for all the fun we've had! Good luck to everybody (even docsue)!
Ok docsue, it's game on for fantasy P2! Age vs Youth, Wisdom vs Reaction Time, Rubens vs Vettel. This will be a great season finale.
Wow. Just read that the pitlane speed limit ends before the tunnel in Abu Dhabi, meaning that there is plenty of chance for people to stuff it in there. Should be interesting.

btw Kudos to Graham for scoring points every race so far. Unfortunately, his Jenson like consistency didn't win this championship...
Woo hooo! I thought I was so screwed after qualy, but turns out my boys were so hopeless in the wet because they were dialed for the dry. What a race though eh? How about that pitlane bbq Kimi was hosting?!
Yep, no catching matbarlow now. Nice pickin gets you the center of the FlyingCracker podium! My math says docsue could still get second or I could get third. Of course, I'd have to get 16 points and Sue would have to get none. I was at the California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield this weekend and had to call my picks in to the HotRod Lodge. Whoa, how about that Danifrog, leaping over apexalex. And an honorable mention has to go to scuderiateocalli for making the top ten. Look out apex, he's getting bigger in your mirror. What surprises lurk in Abu Dhabi?
Oh for goodness sake, Barichello translates pole into P8 and Hamilton starts seventeenth and makes the podium?! Congrats matbarlow on two amazing picks in this race and a great fantasy F1 season.
Pressure is on! Brazil should be amazing and check out this first onboard footage of the Abu Dhabi track. Pit exit is an underground underpass for pete's sake! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikvjwBEYk50&feature=player_embedded
Jimbo, all our players are good friends. Five live in Crested Butte. Four from Boulder, CO, one from Texas, one from NYC, one from California, one from Vail, CO area. Scuderiateocalli used to live in CB, he's a longtime friend, private pilot and avid motorsports fan who joined us late. Perhaps he'll introduce himself here sometime.
Boy Howdy, what a race! What a track! That place is cool. The rain was fun except for the guys that crashed I guess. The sun was welcome though. I actually flipped a coin on Button and Vettel, came up Button. I feel your pain Graham. Indeed, I am smaller in docsue's mirror now. Matbarlow has been spanking us all season but where did this guy scuderiateocalli come from? You guys rock! Are most of the players CB locals?
What a wacky three days -- rain, wrecks, penalties, safety car -- you name it.
Sorry Graham about your picks! I'll have to remember the margarita, single malt trick for the next race and the next race...keep your sights in the rear view and even look over your shoulder a time or two. I'm catching you!!!!! Now, if we can only have Barlow engine failure!
Man! A couple of our players really know how to call them! Congratulations to Mat and Bob.
I really thought after all the hub-bub this past week, my man, Kimi, wouldn't give a dam, but should have known he is more man than that! Why would the red team want Alonzo more than Iceman? Maybe not as flamboyant?! Or is his time up? Aren't his results better these days? I can't figure.
Congrats to matbarlow and especially scuderiateocalli, race points leader for the third race in a row! And docsue is getting bigger in my rear view mirrors, rapidly closing the gap. The last two races should be quite exciting.
And just to add insult to injury, after five pit stops Webber sets fast lap at the end. Thanks Mark. My picks this week were the equivalent of a Jaime Alguersuari shunt.
Oh my god, I'm not sure I can watch any more of this disaster (my picks Webber and Button). Webber has already pitted three times in the first eight laps and Button is trying to give away the championship. Steve Matchett just called Webber's race "atrocious" and Hobbs called it a "hopeless situation". Why oh why did I pick those guys? I blame the margaritas at Ruben's followed by single malt tasting at flyingcracker headquarters and the resulting massive hangover. Drinking and racing don't mix.
Lots of questions before the Japanese GP... Can scuderiateocalli make top points three races in a row? Will Jimbo close the gap to docsue for a fantasy podium at seasons end? Who will hoist the inaugural cracklyfinger.com fantasy F1 trophy? After Ferrari dismissed Kimi will he even try to win this race? Can Button hang on for the championship? We're on pins and needles here at flyingcracker headquarters!
Way to pick 'em scuderiateocalli! Looks like we have a tie for 1st now and Danifrog moves ahead of racerx. (You have to play to stay ahead racerx. I should talk-I've forgotten 2 events now.)
It's after midnight FlyingCracker time. I still don't see docsue on the "Fans with picks" list. This could be my opportunity to move into 3rd! Or is she holding out 'til after Saturday practice? Night racing brings it closer to our time. What a wacky city, Singapore!
Crazy how Romain Grosjean spun during practice on the exact same corner as Nelson Piquet Jnr did last year on purpose. Both driving for Renault. I hope this race is exciting and cheat-free.
I wish I would have participated earlier, this is fun. Thanks for the kind words Jimbo and Graham. Can you imagine what next year will be like with three (or maybe even four) new teams?
Wowie Zowie! Who'd a figured? A 2-1 finish w/ Button and Barrichello! In spite of this, it looks like the standings here at the cracklyfantasy have not changed. Poor Lewis.
Welcome new member scuderiateocalli. Me and you baby, top score!
Louise Hamilton: last race he goes out on the first lap, this race he goes out on the last lap... can he finish a race?!
Great picks Jimbo and scuderiateocalli! And welcome scuderiateocalli to cracklyfinger fantasy.
Tonio Liuzzi is now driving for Force India, and Giancarlo Fisichella is now driving for Ferrari.
Kimi is back!
Hey Mat! We're gaining on you!
Arghhh! Jimbo, we got screwed when Hamilton was shunted by whichever rookie driver couldn't hold it together this week. At the end docsue was sweating bullets watching Rubens spew oily smoke all over the track in the last four laps.
Holy cow! Giancarlo Fisichella and Jarno Trulli, go figure!! Qualifying was full of surprises. What will tomorrow bring?
Holy cow, nice picks docsue!
Seems like last time I forgot to enter my picks, I came home from work on Friday and had a Ruination IPA. It tends to clear the brain of any rational activity, like remembering stuff!
Looks like the new guys (Badoer and Grosjean) have some catching up to do.
Two new drivers enter the fray this weekend: Luca Badoer for Ferrari and Romain Grosjean for Renault. Be sure to skip Sebastien Bourdais and Nelson Piquet this week as they've been replaced, and Felipe Massa is still out!
Today we received confirmation that Jaime Alguersuari replaced Sebastien Bourdais at Scuderia Toro Rosso. Jaime will be the youngest driver ever in F1 if he competes in Hungary. Best wishes to Sebastien Bourdais.
I couldn't wait for the race to air (at noon my time) so I sneaked a peek at Formula1.com. Congratulations matbarlow, graham and dahlio; way to pick 'em!!
Nice graph on the results page Graham!

Congratulations HotRod for picking the top two, and docsue for moving into sole possession of third place!
Hi everyone! As you can see we've added a comment feature to each Series. Feel free to post your comments but please remember this is a family site. Thanks and enjoy the Formula One season.
